A recording project born from decades of musical camaraderie.
Rich and Dave have been making music together for over 30 years, ever since a chance connection through an ad in Creative Loafing sparked a lifelong creative partnership. Back then, The Reasons were searching for a bass player. Dave answered the call, and the rest is a well-worn groove.
Their band, The Reasons, recorded Music for After School, an album that quietly made waves—producing one track that reached #1 in two college radio markets, and another that landed at #3. Long before they met, Rich and Dave were on parallel paths: drawn to the same music, gigging in teen and college bands, logging miles on the road, and honing their craft.
Fast-forward to today: they're still at it. Still writing, recording, and mastering with the kind of unshakable passion that defies trends. Assisted Living is more than a name—it’s a nod to a lifetime of living through music, and the kind of friendship that only comes from shared rhythms and late-night sessions.
Take a look around, dig into the tracks, and discover what decades of musical experience sounds like. Fame may have slipped past, but the songs keep coming—and if you’re listening, that’s more than enough.
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the vibe.

Old Friends, New Tracks, No Apologies
Dave "Zibby" Zibman
Born and raised in Miami, Dave has been laying down bass lines since the age of fifteen. Over the years, he has collaborated with a diverse array of talented musicians, including Larry Dermer (Miami Sound Machine, Gloria Estefan, Foxy), Glenn Tocci (George McCrae), Neil Cloud (Rabbit, Trevor Rabin, Peter Frampton), Barry Seiver (The Cichlids, Charlie Pickett, Savoy Brown), Mick Fazz (Critical Mass), Richard Huxen (Lift, Shiva Tribe), Charlie Pickett (Charlie Pickett & The Eggs), Pete Signore (The Cichlids), Emrah Kotan (India Arie), Ruth King, and Al Broomfield.
In the early 1980s, Dave’s band, Cheeks (also known as Bugsy), became a highly sought-after dance act, performing across Florida. By the 1990s, he was the foundation of The Reasons, a beloved Atlanta-based band. After The Reasons disbanded in 1996, Dave continued working alongside the band's lead singer, Rich Millett, contributing to his solo projects. In 2008, he formed The FlyCats, a jazz ensemble dedicated to delivering sophisticated grooves. His musical journey continued in 2021 when he and Millett, under the project name Assisted Living, released a self-produced album.
Dave's playing is deeply influenced by an eclectic mix of bass legends, including Chris Squire, Alphonso Johnson, Michael Rutherford, Jaco Pastorius, James Jamerson, Carol Kaye, Tony Levin, Verdine White, Peter Cetera, Paul McCartney, John Goodwin, Stanley Clarke, Andy West, Pino Palladino, Greg Lake, Mel Schacher, Gary Thain, and many more.

Rich Millett
Hailing from London, England, Rich Millett has spent a lifetime steeped in music. He began his artistic journey at 20, lending his voice to acoustic duos, solo sets, and an eclectic array of bands. Since then, he’s penned over 300 songs, each one a testament to his instinct for melody, lyrical nuance, and emotional resonance.
Rich doesn’t just write songs—he builds worlds. Under the pen name Wilson Quick, he authored the novel Strawberry Fields for Evan, showcasing his narrative gifts beyond the musical realm and proving that his creativity doesn’t end when the music fades.
His influences span generations and genres, from the layered brilliance of The Beatles and Genesis to the quirky charm of Jellyfish and Sugarplastic. With sonic threads woven from progressive rock, classic rock, and indie textures, Rich Millett crafts songs that speak to the curious, the sentimental, and the ever-evolving listener.
Whether he's recording with longtime collaborators or scribbling the seeds of a new story, Rich continues to create with a passion that’s as boundless as his playlist.
